Hang Tight PSC EPAS Power Steering Controller

$485.00 CAD

The Hang Tight PSC is the worlds first, plug and play power steering controller that controls Dodge, Mazda and Volvo electric hydraulic electric power steering pumps, as well as Toyota electric assist electric columns.

Instructions can be found here.

The Hang Tight PSC is 100% plug and play, it supports multiple pumps/EPAS unit types, no programming required.

Waterproof design that is fully potted to ensure reliability in the toughest wet and vibration filled environments.

Control assist level with either a trim pot knob or a PWM input from an ECU or controller. You can even use both, it will default to the PWM input when it see's a signal.
Customize your assist level to your liking, or with the needs of the day.

Each PSC comes with mounting hardware and mating connectors.
Pump type specific bundles can be purchased as a kit, see below for support applications:

Dodge

The best option on the market currently. More power and flow then any other electro hydraulic pump by a massive margin. With control able to dial it down, can be used for every application. Best part? It's one of the cheapest pumps.
Comes in 2 versions, both mount horizontally;

Remote reservoir units

  • 2011-13 Dodge Durango, 3.6L V6
  • 2014-15 Dodge Durango, 3.6L V6
  • 2011-13 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 3.6L V6
  • 2018-20 Jeep Wrangler*** Support TBD

Integral reservoir units

  • 2011-15 Dodge Charger, 3.6L V6
  • 2011-15 Dodge Challenger, 3.6L V6
  • 2011-18 Chrysler 300, 3.6L V6

Mazda

Easy to find, usually cheap, integral reservoir, vertical mounting. Light-Medium strength pump. Great for classic conversions and lighter drift cars.

  • 2006-10 Mazda 3 (3 connector)
  • 2006-10 Mazda 5 (3 connector)
  • 2010-13 Mazda 3 (2 connector)
  • 2010-13 Mazda 5 (2 connector)

Toyota Electric Power Steering Column

Yaris, Corolla and Pruis all use these, making them a very common column unit. Great for classic conversions, lighter track cars or autoX cars that have short lap times. Will suffer from heat build up during prolonged track use.

There is a shunt resistor that will turn off the unit when the temperature gets too high from the current draw. This can be bypassed for extreme uses, but user beware.

  • 2004-09 Prius/Corolla/Yaris - White connector
  • 2010-15 Prius/Corolla/Yaris - Black connector

Volvo

These pumps are medium strength, a bit stronger then the Mazda pump. They can operate in limp mode without the CAN connected, but using a PSC you can control them same as the other units supported.
Integral reservior and remote fill, vertical mount, not the cheapest option.

  • 2004-13 S30, S40, S60, C30, C40, V50 (early design)

Volvo Bundle

We're always adding support for more pumps!

Typically EPAS systems draw 10-20 amps in normal driving, and can draw as much as 100 amps for a few milliseconds on a large steering input. It's important to have a stout electrical system in place before installing an EPAS system. We recommend a minimum 160 amp output alternator.
The PSC itself draws less than 1 amp.

If you're building your own harness, it's recommended to run minimum 8awg wire for both the ground and power with an 80 amp fuse or circuit breaker. Keep the wiring as short as practical, and ensure connections are of high quality.

Our kits come with the correct wiring size and type. They are designed to be ran directly to battery, or to a source with a direct connection to battery. Powering the motor or pump off a PDM is not recommended. For more information, check out our instructions PDF.

You can control the PSC with an optional potentiometer, Trim pot, or using your own ECU or other PWM capable device. Our pre-made harnesses come configured for a potentiometer

Having control at your finger tips is great for on the fly adjustments of steering assist.
Going on a casual Sunday street drive? No problem, turn up the assist for easy driving. Track day where feeling every bump improves lap times? Turn it down a bit.

With optional ECU control the sky is the limit for automatic control strategy; Vehicle speed, steering angle or a combination of those and many others are possible.

Yes - assembled in Canada by our in-house team, and only made with the best sourced connectors, wire and terminals and construction methods.

We currently have options for Dodge, Volvo and Mazda applications, check out our bundles for more information and to purchase!

In our opinion, every build type is better with electric hydraulic or motor assisted power steering.
With electric power steering, you are removing the link between engine rpm and assist level. This usually results in cooler operation, consistent steering feel and even improved fuel economy.
Modern OEM technology in steering has come a long way in the past 15 years, and with our controller, you can take advantage of it in your Sunday cruiser hot rod, or dedicated race car.

There is some applications where flow demand can exceed the pump's capabilities, large off road racing trucks for example. Contact us if you're unsure if this solution is right for your build.

100% Plug and Play. No programming required.

The PSC is a fully plug and play OEM power steering controller that supports multiple pumps. Hook up power, ground, and you're ready to drive. Upgrade down the road hassle free

IP68 DESIGN, FULLY POTTED, DURABLE WATERPROOF DESIGN.

Racing in the rain? Hitting the lake? Don't worry about it. The PSC is built to be water proof using IP68 connectors, and is resin potted for extra protection.

Control with Potentiometer or ECU PWM Output

Banging off the limiter while drifting? Rock crawling up a steep climb in your UTV? Control the hydraulic output of your power steering pump with optional potentiometer or your engine management system of choice.
